Building Updates

  • Hello everyone-

We've been doing quarterly updates in our newsletter. As well as posts on facebook but now that we have a little more news to report we will be doing monthly updates on our Facebook page and website at www.greattailsanimalrescue.com. We are currently at 1.3 million in our building fund.

  • The GTAR Building Committee has been busy meeting with a local draftsperson to create building plans for us to send out to local contractors to start the bidding process. We are working with local excavators to get quotes to start the site prep. A banner sign will be created and put on the site soon so you can view our site progress along the way.

We are excited to be moving forward after years of fundraising and finding the right businesses and folks to help us move our project forward! Thank you for your support! Stay tuned for continued project developments.

On Friday, October 11, 2024, we attended Harvest Fund(d) Fest. Great Tails was one of three candidates for GRACF’s Seeds of Change grant, and attendees that night voted for the winner. WE WON!!! Thank you to our supporters for voting us to the top 3 and to the attendees of the event that voted for us! These monies will be added to our building fund (See October 2024 Building Update for more information above). Thank you to Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation for putting on this amazing event and congratulations as well to the second and third place winners, New Beginnings and Boys and Girls Club of Greenway! We are so excited to get the funding needed for our building and be able to help more animals in need. Fulfilling Our Commitment, One Pet at a Time

Great Tails Animal Rescue is dedicated to providing temporary shelter and veterinary care for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals of Itasca County, Minnesota and surrounding areas, with the purpose of finding loving, permanent homes.  Our goal is to advocate for domestic animals in our community by promoting spay and neutering, providing education and resources, and encouraging essential veterinary care.

Great Tails Animal Rescue wants to thank all of our supporters, fosters, and volunteers for their efforts in getting our foster animals to appointments, meet and greets, and adoptions. We are 100% volunteer based and reliant on our fosters and volunteers.  If you are interested in adopting one of our animals in foster care please fill out an adoption application under the adopt tab. If you would like us to mail an adoption application, please contact us at  218-398-6191 or message us on Facebook.

Once we have a completed adoption application, we coordinate with our board, the foster home, and the potential adoptive home to schedule a meet and greet at our office. Because we are foster based, we have to coordinate many schedules: transportation, jobs, appointments, availability of volunteers, etc.

As we grow and take in more foster animals we want to keep the process as smooth and simple as possible. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Great Tails Animal Rescue.
